Contact Tracing

The district will notify the state and local health department immediately upon being informed of any positive COVID-19 diagnostic test result by an individual within school facilities or on schools grounds, including students, faculty, staff and visitors of the district.

The district's plan calls for tracing all contacts of exposed individuals in accordance with protocols, training and tools provided through the New York State Contact Tracing Program.

  • The district will take and keep attendance records of all students and staff members.  Student attendance will be taken immediately upon arrival.
  • Student schedules will be kept up to date.

  • Movement/Travel logs will be kept on each student.  When a student leaves the classroom, the time and destination will be documented.

  • Sign-in sheets will be posted outside every classroom.  The classroom teacher will maintain the classroom and restroom log each day.  The log must be submitted to the principal's office at the end of each day.

  • Every office, classroom and space in the each of the district buildings will have sign-in logs.  Anyone who enters must sign-in with the date and the time of arrival and departure.
  • Staff members are required to self-swipe into the building each day.

  • All district staff is required to sign room logs.

  • All visitors are required to sign-in.

  • A log with every visitor's name, date, time and where they visited will be maintained.

If or when an individual who was in a facility used or owned by the district for instruction of students is discovered to have COVID-19, the district's COVID019 coordinator, in consultation with the local health department, will do the following:

  • Immediately close the affected area.

  • Investigate all movements and interaction of students/staff over the previous week.

  • Arrange for thorough cleaning and disinfection of areas affected, after 24 hours.

  • Work with the New York State Department of Health to notify all potential contacts.

Confidentiality must be maintained as required by federal and state laws and regulations.  School staff will not determine who is to be excluded from school without guidance and direction from the local health department.
