All Elementary Schools Offer Full-Day Pre-K

LOTTERY APPLICATIONS CAN BE DOWNLOADED FROM THE DOCUMENT CONTAINER BELOW

Pre-K Eligibility:

• Pending the approval of the NYS Budget, Schenectady City School District will provide a full-day Universal Pre-Kindergarten Program at each of our eleven elementary schools.  
• Programs will also be offered at four community-based organizations and are either full or half day.  As a part of the lottery application, you can list the order of preference for which you would like your child to attend either their attendance zone school or a program run by a community-based organization.  
• Applications must be postmarked or received no later than Monday, May 6 in order to be entered into the lottery.
• The lottery application must be filled out completely by a parent or legal guardian.
• Students must be a resident of the Schenectady City School District.
• If you should move or change your phone number after you have submitted your application, please call, email or visit Central Registration.
• Students will be picked by a random number lottery.
• The application is to be entered into a lottery and does not guarantee a spot in a pre-kindergarten program.
• Because spots are limited and funding for programs is provided to the district by a grant from NYS, students must maintain a 90% or better attendance rate.
• Pre-K Choices should be marked in order of preference (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and/or 5th).
• Due to limited space, residents of the district can enter their child in a lottery to attend the Pre-K program in the attendance zone school based upon your home residence.You can look up the school by going to our website here.
• Spaces will be filled based upon the results of a public lottery to be held on May 10, 2019.
• Parents do not need to be present and will also be notified of the results by mail.
• Applications must be postmarked or received no later than Monday, May 6 in order to be entered into the lottery.
• This is a random number lottery.  As long as you are a resident of the district and your child will be 4 years old on or before December 1, 2019, you are welcome to enter the lottery.
• Please note that this does not guarantee a place in the Pre-Kindergarten program.  Any applications for which we are unable to fulfil requests will automatically be placed on a waitlist and contacted in the event an opening becomes available.
• Applications will be available April 1, 2019.
• Applications must be received/postmarked by May 6, 2019.
• The Lottery is open to the public and will be held in the Schenectady Room located in Mont Pleasant Middle School located at 1121 Forest Road on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 9 a.m. Parents can attend the lottery, but it is not required.  Results will be mailed following the lottery.
