eNews Updates and Reminders March 26 2021

Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,

We hope all is well and that you had a great week.  To close out the week, here are some updates, reminders and some news.  Have a great weekend.

In response to the heart-breaking surge of violence against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders last week, we want to make it clear that we stand firm against racism …  against any one, at any time.   As a district committed to equity and one that stands firm against racism, it is our responsibility to condemn hate and to dig even deeper into our work to dismantle racism.   Being anti-racist is a lifetime commitment.  We must learn together, have difficult conversations and be accountable.  Don’t be silent about racism.  Support and stand with our students, staff as well as your peers, colleagues and neighbors.  Let them know that you see them and that you are here for them.

Here are a few articles and resources:

We have additional anti-racism resources on our website here.

Are you familiar with the SCSD five-year Strategic Plan?

The Schenectady City School District Strategic Plan was adopted by the Board of Education on July 10, 2019.  The plan, which outlines the district vision and goals, drives planning and decision-making.

The organizational values of our district are equity, collaboration and learning.  Our pillars include:  1) Student and Graduate Success, 2) Passionate People, 3) Partnerships with Families and Community, and 4) Efficient Systems and Equitable Resources.

We report on the progress of our work quarterly at board of education meetings.  Since this is our roadmap to improvement and student success, and with you as our partner in education, we hope that you are interested in becoming familiar with our Strategic Plan and how we progress.  You can learn more about the Strategic Plan and download presentations from our website here.  If you have questions or comments, you can submit them at any time here
