2021-2022 Budget

It’s budget development time and we are seeking your input!  

Please watch a brief video message from  Dr. Aaron Bochniak, interim superintendent about the budget.

Are you interested in running for a seat on the board of education?


Two seats on the Schenectady City School District Board of Education are up for election on May 18.  Each of the seats is for a three-year term.  


In order to get on the ballot, a person must:

Reside in the school district for at least one year immediately preceding the election and complete the residency affidavit
Certify that you are a qualified voter.
Not be an employee of the Schenectady City School District.
Submit the nominating petition with at least 50 legible signatures.  You can download the nominating petition here.  

Petitions are due in the clerk’s office at 108 Education Drive (in the back of Mont Pleasant Middle School)  by 5 p.m. on April 28, 2021.

Notice of Charter School Public Hearing

We will be holding a public hearing regarding a proposal for a new charter school called “Destine Preparatory Charter School,” on Wednesday, March 24 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.    As per New York Education Law, when a charter school is formed and application submitted, the school district in which the charter school would be located, must hold a public hearing to solicit comments from the community.  The link for the hearing will be posted on the homepage of our website.  If you are unable to attend the virtual hearing and would like to provide feedback or comment, please submit through Let’s Talk here

Congratulations to Charlie Post

Charlie Post, a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School who is a sound engineer with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra,  won a Grammy Award last night for Best Engineered Album, Classical for his work on Shostakovich:  Symphony No.13, ‘Babi Yar.’   Read more about Charlie here

Board of Education Meeting Schedule Change

The Board of Education Budget Meeting scheduled for March 17 has been cancelled.  The next board meeting will be held on March 24 at 7 p.m.  The virtual meeting link will be posted on our website and on BoardDocs
