Change to Instruction on December 2 and December 16
Asynchronous Learning

On Wednesday, December 2 and Wednesday, December 16, we will not hold synchronous instruction in the afternoon. Students will attend school as they normally do in the morning but instead of attending class online in the afternoon, they will follow directions given by their teachers and work independently on these two afternoons.  Teachers will post lessons, give instructions and provide access to any materials that students will need to complete their work or any projects.

Keane Elementary School will be holding a virtual public hearing tonight (Tuesday, December 1) at 6 p.m.  The purpose of the hearing is to explain the process of receivership, to provide an update on the performance of the school and to solicit input from the public.

Consent for COVID-19 Testing

A letter is being sent home with all students who attend in-person requesting you to provide consent  for COVID-19 testing in school.   This request is so that we have consent on file if our community enters one of the designations, outlined by Governor Cuomo, that will require testing in order for us  to remain open for in-person instruction.

If our community becomes a “yellow” zone, it does not mean that our schools would be forced to close or that we would need to discontinue in-person learning.  We would, however, be required to test 20 percent of in-person teachers and students in school.   Our advance request for your consent is so that we have it on file, if needed.  We want to ensure that we are prepared to jump into action to minimize the impact on in-person learning.

While we hope that all students will participate, it is not a requirement. We will not test your child without your consent.  Your child will not be excluded from school if you do not consent.

More details are posted here,    You can give consent electronically here

Federal Impact Survey

The Schenectady City School District is entitled to receive Federal Impact Aid funding for students whose parents or guardians meet certain qualifications.

Please click here to take a quick three question survey to see if your family qualifies to help us receive this funding.  If you respond “yes” to any of the three questions, you will receive a followup survey in the mail to be completed and returned to us in a postage-paid envelope.  Your responses are confidential and will only be used for this purpose.
