Congratulations to Fareeza Islam, a 2010 graduate
of Schenectady High School, who was recently named 2011 Distinguished
Leader of Tomorrow by the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York
recently at the Desmond.
Islam was born and raised in Guyana, South
America. She graduated from Schenectady High School with an
International Baccalaureate Diploma and is currently a freshman at
Colgate University. She is involved in numerous activities including
the Leaders of Tomorrow Program (LOFT), the Letter Project, and the
Caribbean Student Association. She is majoring in Pre-Med and Biology
and aspires to become a biomedical engineer.
The nominees were awarded for their strength of
character, dedicated community service, emphasis on life-long learning
and dedication to fostering self-confidence and leadership skills in
others.
