Yates PBIS Kick Off Celebration

On Thursday September 10, the staff and students at Yates Magnet school participated in a Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) Kick Off Celebration. Students participated in a school wide rotation where each class visited various stations within the building. Each station included a familiar face, someone that the students easily recognize in that place.  Each discussed how to follow each school rule at that location. These locations included the auditorium, the hallway, the classroom, the cafeteria, the bathroom, and the playground. Students also discussed arrival and dismissal behavior, along with bus behavior. In the afternoon, Yates students had the pleasure to witness a teacher tug of war between the primary teachers versus the intermediate teachers.  Our paraprofessionals also participated against the teachers.

All staff sported their bright yellow Yates PBIS T-shirts with the famous BEE on the front.

The PBIS Coaches at Yates are Carrie White, Troy Lichten, Erin Backaus, and Teryl Mertzeis.

The Bee represents the four school rules:

Be Safe

Be Respectful

Be Responsible

Be sure to follow all adult directions
