More than $800 was
collected at the door before the concert which took place
earlier this month. The show included singing
performances by the students and a 45 minute
performance by The String Ensemble, under the
direction of teacher Colleen Boswell.
Students
also helped out by demonstrating positive behavior in
school. The Yates Positive Behavior Intervention and
Supports (PBIS) committee donated 19 cents for every
positive referral earned during the week for a total of $50.
Kindergarten and first
grade classes collected bottles and cans, adding another
$10. Joanne Arey's fourth graders created Haitian
flags that were sold during the concert and Richard Roe and
Dawn Cagnina, magnet program staff members, held a bake sale
that raised more than $150.
Through all the efforts
of the parents, teachers and students, Yates raised more
than $1,000 for Haiti.
