First Sergeant John H. Rayome from the Stratton Air National Guard Base visited Yates Magnet School on October 24 to discuss the importance of properly raising the American flag.

Rayome met with Danielle Rossner’s sixth graders to talk about the history of the American flag and to give a lesson on how to correctly put up and take down the flag.  Each student got a chance to put up or take down the flag, demonstrating that they know how to treat the flag with pride and respect.

The sixth graders have the responsibility of making sure the Yates flag is put up each morning and taken down at the end of the day.
