Students
hold art opening
On
Tuesday, Oct. 24 students in Mrs Kucharskis and Mrs.
Rockinger’s first grade
classes held their very own
art opening.
Students
were showing off an art
installation they completed
while working with Miss
Danielle Weinheimer, who is
working on her Master's
Theses at Goddard College.
Miss Weinheimer led students
on a fantastic art and
science journey where they
built a life-size tree, made
rubbings of real leaves for
the foliage and grass and
painted a beautiful blue
sky.
Imitating the work of
installation artist, Sandy
Skoglund, students made
bright orange insects, which
they placed on the ground or
in the tree. As part of
first grade science and
literature, students read
On Beyond Bugs by Dr.
Seuss and learned the parts
of an insect’s body; the
head, thorax and abdomen.
