Yates Arts In Education Magnet
School
Yates
holds Renaissance Faire
To celebrate
May Day, the Yates Arts-In-Education Magnet School held a
Renaissance Faire on Tuesday, May 1.
Students
dressed in the clothes of the times as they danced and sang to
celebrate the Renaissance and Medieval Times. They also showed
off their hand-made gargoyles and castles, which were on display
throughout the building.
In
music class students learned dances and songs from the
Renaissance and Medieval periods. They learned "Now Is The Month
of Maying" on their recorders and performed the Maypole dance.
To prepare for
the event, students were also treated to a performance by the
madrigal Singers (in costume) from Schenectady High School,
directed by Mrs. Gayne.
In class
students have been learning out historical figures such as
Michaelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, Queen Elizabeth the First,
Galileo and Anthony Van Leeuwehhoek.
