| Dear
Parents and Guardians,
Finally it feels like
winter, although many of us were hoping the warm weather would last
through spring. Our 6th graders in Mrs.. Masterson's class did a
great job with showing children how to dress in layers for school.
Please ask your child about it from the assembly. Our building goes
through many changes during the course of the day and while it
starts out colder by the end of the day it is very warm. Layers of
clothing will help the children.
All of our children
in grades 3-6 put in a a great effort on the English language Arts
test and even with all the illnesses going around our attendance was
very good and the few children who were sick were able to make up
the test very quickly. Thank you for your help getting the children
here and encouraging them to do their best.
We often talk to the
children about illness and covering their mouths when they sneeze,
and we know they can't help it when they are sick. Please keep your
child home when they are sick and complaining of stomach illnesses
and sneezing a great deal. In a school setting children spread germs
very quickly even when we talk about preventative measures. it is
important that we have the most current phone numbers for you and
your emergency numbers in the cases when children come to school and
get sick. As you can imagine nothing feels worse than being ill and
having to sit in the nurse's office for an hour or two while we try
to find someone to come and get a child. Also, in case of a more
serious emergency, it might mean a delay in a doctor's visit.
February 28th is
Sugarless Wednesday at Yates, and we will be encouraging children to
go sugarless for one day. Please look for more information to be
forthcoming. The more positive habits we can encourage for children
in elementary school the better.
Teddy Bear wishes for
a chance to stay in and read,
