Grader Adrianna Austin named B95.5 "Kid of the Week"
When Yates 6th grader
Adrianna Austin cut 12 inches of her hair off to donate to
Locks of
Love, she was doing it to help out kids who have lost their
hair. Now, Adrianna is being recognized for her generosity and
has been named a "Kid of the Week" by B95.5, Capital News 9
and the Times Union.
"Adrianna
is a great student and positive role model to her peers. She has
a bubbly personality and is always looking for ways to help
other people," said Yates teacher Tiffany Giardono. "Adrianna
made such a great choice to donate her hair. It takes a lot to
cut off that much hair and give it away. We are very proud of
her."
Locks of
Love is a
public non-profit
organization that provides hairpieces to financially
disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term
medical hair loss from any diagnosis.
