Keane Second
Graders Visit Pine Bush Preserve
A
few weeks ago the second graders at William C. Keane Elementary
School took a trip to the Albany Pine Bush Preserve to kick-off
the unit on the life-cycle of butterflies and other insects.
The students
learned about the stage of the life-cycle and the essence of the
Blue Lupine.
The
group also learned about the ecosystem as they hiked the trails
of the Pine Bush. According to their teachers Jamie Daus
and Susan Look, the students can explain the difference of the
male and female Karner Blue.
Following the
trip, the students observed the entire life cycle of the Painted
Lady Butterfly right in their classrooms.
