Keane
students Read for the Record
The students
in kindergarten through second grades at Keane Elementary School
participated in “Read for the Record” last week. Read for the
Record is a world campaign that brings children and adults
together to read the same book, on the same day in homes,
schools and communities all over the world.
Groups
submit their numbers to Jumpstarts Read for the Record program
with hopes of setting a new world record. Last year more than
two million children read The Very
Hungry Caterpillar.
All of the
Keane students read the 2010 official campaign book, Ezra Jack
Keats’ The Snowy Day. The students also participated in
various activities related to the story and ended the day with
an ice cold frozen treat.
Submissions
for the 2010 campaign are accepted through October 15. They are
then reviewed, tabulated and announced in early November.
