Keane Families Enjoy
Night of
Reading, Games & More
More than 50
families enjoyed dinner, reading, shopping, face painting,
raffles and more at the William C. Keane Elementary School Pizza
Party Pajama Literacy Night on March 4.
Keane families
were treated to a pizza dinner, thanks to the school's Parent
Partnership Team. Kaela Wallman from Schenectady's Duane
Branch Library read If I Ran the Zoo to the group.
Everyone then moved around to the variety of literacy stations
which included making bookmarks, "rhyming make and take," a Dr.
Seuss board game, face painting and Horton Hears a Who
art station led by Cathryn Hunt, art teacher at Keane.
A professional
photographer snapped photos of the families with the Cat in the
Hat, who was on hand for the evening.
The Scholastic
Book Fair was open for shoppers.
Dr. Seuss
books, a book bag, movie and an Open Door Bookstore gift card
were raffled off.
"The evening
was a huge success," said Dana Demarco, reading teacher and
co-coordinator of the event. "Thank you to all of the K-2
teachers and support teachers who participated in with a helping
hand to make the evening such a fun time."
Mickie DiPace,
reading teacher along with the help of the school PTO/PPT
committees, also planned the event.
