Van
Corlaer Select Chorus earns Gold rating at music festival
Congratulations to the Van Corlaer Select Chorus which recently
won a Gold rating at the New York State School Music Association
(NYSSMA) festival held at Bethlehem High School.
Each year NYSSMA sponsors music festivals throughout the state
which are hosted by local schools.
Gold is the
highest rating possible for a performance. According to
Andrea Baran, music teacher at Van Corlaer, the Select Chorus
earned the rating for demonstrating an excellent level of
technical and artistic skill in tone, intonation, balance,
technique, accuracy, diction, interpretation, discipline and
appearance.
NYSSMA is a professional organization representing more than
6,000 music teachers across the state and is associated with The
National Association for Music Education.
