The Schenectady City School District invites you
to participate in the 2013 Budget Survey.
Our
district is facing a budget gap of about $9.5 million for the
2013-2014 school year. In order to close that gap, the Schenectady
City School District must reduce spending by the same amount. We want to
know what is important to you as we move forward.
We have faced huge budget shortfalls each of the last two years and
have closed budget gaps of $9.6 and $7 million by removing
many items and positions, modifying programs and school schedules,
organizing the middle school program and closing a school.
We have limited resources and are not receiving the state aid that
we are entitled to in order to provide a "sound basic education."
We must make some very difficult decisions.
Superintendent Spring has begun the process of reviewing, analyzing
and evaluating every area, program and service. It is
important that our parents, staff, students and community members
join in this conversation as we determine budget priorities for
2013-2014. Please complete the survey and share your
thoughts, opinions and budget-saving ideas.
