New York State Report Cards
April 16 2010

The 2008-2009 School Reports released Thursday by the New York State Education Department  are available online:

The Report Cards provide district and school enrollment, demographics, attendance, suspension, dropout, teacher, assessment, accountability, graduation rate, post-graduate plan, career and technical education, and fiscal data for schools and districts.

"The New York State Report Cards clearly demonstrate that the children of our district are making progress in many areas and the achievement gap between white and minority children has closed significantly over the past several years," said Superintendent Eric Ely.  "The administrators, parents, staff and students of our district should be proud of these accomplishments."

Ely said he is concerned however about the graduation rate and performance of high school students.  "Our high school Restructuring Plan is designed to address many of the issues that lead to poor performance," added Ely.  "We recognize the problem and we are working together to correct the achievement issues we continue to face."

Student attendance continues to be a primary concern for district administrators and teachers.  "If students are in school, they are receiving the quality education that is available to them in our classrooms," said Ely. "Attendance is a critical issue that is also being addressed."
