Summer School starts Tuesday, July 6 and runs through Monday, August 16.

The high school summer program is a fully accredited program available to all students in the City of Schenectady and to those in surrounding areas, if space is available.

Courses
All students are advised to speak with their counselor regarding course failure.

English:  9, 10, 11, 12

Math:  Applied Algebra I, Algebra, Applied Geometry, Geometry and Applied Trigonometry

Social Studies:  Global Studies 9, Global Studies 10,
U.S. History, Participation in Government/Economics

Science:  Biology, IR Science, Astronomy

Registration Information
Registration will be held at Schenectady High School Libraryon Monday, June 28 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 5 - 7 p.m. and
Tuesday, June 29  from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Any student who is failing a course should speak with his or her counselor as soon as possible.  Students must have registration information from a guidance counselor and a June report card, if available, documenting a course failure.

Cost
Students who reside in the city of Schenectady, including those who attend private or parochial schools, may attend classes free of charge.

Non-resident students must pay a tuition fee of $225 for each course for which they enroll and a $3 registration fee.    Tuition and fees are due at the time of registration.  Non-resident students will only be able to register on June 28, 2010 between 5 - 7 p.m. for classes which still have open enrollment.

Courses are offered based on student enrollment.

Breakfast Program
A breakfast program will be offered for all summer school students.  The cafeteria will be open from 7:30 - 7:55 a.m.

Transportation
Transportation will not be available for summer school

Walk-In Regents Exams and RCT Exams
Summer School students who are enrolled in a Regents course will still need to register for the corresponding Regents Exam.  A summer school student who wishes to take an exam, but is not enrolled in the corresponding course, may register as a "walk-in" for the exam needed.

A students who is not enrolled in summer school, but wishes to take an examination must do the following:

1.  Register for a walk-in exam from July 6 through August 11.

2.  Bring a written statement from a guidance counselor or principal authorizing the right to take the exam.

3.  Pay a Fee:  Non residents only $3 registration fee
                                              $125 per exam

Class Attendance and Participation Requirements
Students are reminded that class attendance and participation is mandatory for course credit.  Any student who misses more than 3 cumulative days may not receive credit for the course.

Discipline
The Schenectady City School District Code of Conduct will be followed.  Three referrals or a single serious infraction may result in dismissal from the program.
