The middle school summer program is a fully accredited program made available to all students in the City of Schenectady and to those in surrounding areas, if space is available.  The staff is experienced and certified.

Registration Information
Registration will be held in the Schenectady High School Library on Monday, June 29 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 5 - 7 p.m.

Please note that students from outside the district can only register for classes during the evening registration period.  Late registration is available only for courses where enrollment is still open.

  • Students should speak with their counselor if they know they have failed a course. 
  • A guidance counselor will be on hand at registration to provide information regarding course failures. 
  • Students must have registration information for their guidance counselor in order to register

Cost
Students who reside in the city of Schenectady, including those who attend private or parochial schools, may attend classes free of charge.

Non-resident students must pay a tuition fee of $175 for each course for which they enroll and a $3 registration fee ($178.00 total).  Tuition and fees are due at the time of registration.  Non-resident students will only be able to register on June 29, 2009 during the evening registration period for classes that still have openings.

Breakfast Program
A breakfast program will be offered for all summer school students.  The cafeteria will be open from 7:30 - 7:55 a.m.

Transportation
Transportation will not be available for summer school

Summer School Schedule
Classes will be held at Mont Pleasant Middle School from Wednesday, July 1 through Tuesday, August 11.  Local Final Exams will be held on August 11.

Class Sessions
Summer School will begin on July 1 and run Monday through Thursday for the following six weeks.  Each period will be two hours long.  Students must arrive on time for class.

Two Period-Day
Period 1:  8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Period 2:  10:10 a.m. - 12:10 p.m.

Week 1:  July 1 - 2
Week 2:  July 6 - 9
Week 3:  July 13 - 16
Week 4:  July 20 - 23
Week 5:  July 27 - 30
Week 6:  August 3 - 6
Week 7:  August 10 - 11

Final exams will be administered on August 12 and 13.

Class Attendance and Participation Requirements
Students are reminded that class attendance and participation is mandatory for course credit.  Any student who misses more than 3 cumulative days may not receive credit for the course.

Discipline
The Schenectady City School District Code of Conduct will be followed.  Serious infractions of the Code of Conduct may result in dismissal from the program.  Any student with 3 discipline referrals will be dismissed from the program.
