Fidelis Care Form

Getting your child set for kindergarten is easier than ever at the Schenectady City School District's new Welcome Center located in The Ellis Health Center at 600 McClellan Street.

The district has partnered with Ellis, Schenectady County Public Health Services, Child Guidance, Schenectady County Action Program, Fidelis Insurance and many others to provide our first kindergarten screening.

If you have a child entering kindergarten in the fall, you are invited to attend this special event.  You can register your child for kindergarten and have a opportunity for your child to have a health screening and necessary immunizations - all during the same visit.

You can also meet with pupil services staff, mental health and other care providers.  It's just one stop for parents and their children who are entering kindergarten.  All you have to do is schedule and appointment during the times listed below.

Kindergarten screening/registration
will be held on:

About the kindergarten program

The kindergarten instructional program is the building block for lifelong learning.  Our goal is to build a solid foundation and make your child's education experience as enriching as possible.

At Schenectady City Schools, we recognize that children develop and learn at different rates and in different ways.  All students must be provided opportunities to meet or exceed challenging learning standards, to perform at their best and reach their full individual academic potential.  The social, emotional, and physical health and development of students plays an integral role to ensuring student success.

We constantly strive to provide high quality educational programs that are consistent across all of our elementary schools and are aligned with the district mission as well as New York State Learning Standards.

The kindergarten program is offered all elementary school sites.  Please go to our attendance zones page to find your neighborhood elementary school and view district attendance boundary information.
