2014 School Board Election

Two Candidates are Running for Board of Education
Election May 20

School board incumbent Cheryl Nechamen and resident Tanya Hull are running for two of the three open seats on the Schenectady City School District Board of Education.

The terms of Nechamen and current member Ron Lindsay will expire June 30, 2014.  The seat that Ed Kosiur vacated at the end of February is also up for election.  All three seats are for three-year terms.

Even though there are two candidates running and three seats to fill, the election will be held as scheduled.   The third position will be filled by the individual who has the most write-in votes.  If there are no write-in candidates to fill the vacancy, the board must call a special meeting.  The board can choose to leave the seat vacant, hold a special election or appoint a qualified person to fill the vacancy.

More information on the candidates will be posted soon.

The School Board Election will take place on May 20, the same day as the school Budget Vote.  Polls are open noon - 9 p.m.
