Schenectady Students Conduct Experiment
with Scientist in Antarctica

Home Schenectady High  News

Dr. Eric Christian is a NASA Scientist stationed in Antarctica conducting research.  Among his research, he is conducting an experiment with the Earth Science teachers and students at Schenectady High School.

Dr. Christian will be observing and measuring shadows in Antarctica, where the sun never sets this time of year.  The students will be observing and measuring shadows here in Schenectady.

Set in the grounds of Antarctica is a post with a flag that displays ' Schenectady High School' and the Patriot logo.  From this point, Dr. Christian measures the shadow, and provides the data to our students.  The students compare this data to the data that they obtain in Schenectady.

The students also interact regularly with Dr. Christian.  He answers their questions and discusses the comparisons in his observations in Antarctica and the data collected in Schenectady.
