Sayles School of Fine Arts
Program Highlights
- Students
enrolled in the Sayles School of Fine Arts will have an
enriched fine arts experience in addition to meeting the
requirements of a New York State Regents Program. It is felt
that students completing the recommended sequence/strand from
the course chart will be fully prepared to pursue their chosen
fine arts field at the college level.
- All
Schenectady High School students may enter the Sayles School
of Fine Arts to meet their one credit state requirement in
art/music.
- Students may
major in Visual Art; Music; Drama; Dance; Fine Arts; Fine Arts
- Media.
- Alternative
scheduling maybe available in the Sayles School of Fine Arts
to allow students to meet the rigorous state graduation
requirements as well as take additional arts courses.
Options include:
- “Zero
Period” before or after the regular high school day. This
allows Sayles School of Fine Arts students the option of
taking an additional ninth course.
- Credit
bearing Fine Arts Courses may be offered over the summer.
Although it is recommended that students enter the Sayles
School of Fine Arts in ninth grade, students may join the
program at any time during their four years in high school. It
is possible; to join later than ninth grade and still complete
the required classes.
