Aden Brooks and
Nathan Kipniss. both seniors in Schenectady High School's Sayles
School of Fine Arts, recently performed with the Empire State
Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
On May 22, under
the direction of Helen Cha-Pyo, the orchestra performed a
challenging program of Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet and
Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade. The group received
a standing ovation.
It was an exciting
performance and trip for Brooks, a trombone player, and Kipniss,
a cello player, both noting this was the first time either of
them stepped into Carnegie Hall.
Both students will
perform with ESYO one last time at Seiji Ozawa Hall in
Tanglewood, Massachusetts. Brooks and Kipniss have played
with ESYO for seven and five years respectively. They are
both active in the Schenectady High School arts program and take
advantage of the array of arts opportunities available at the
school. Kipniss is valedictorian and Brooks is ranked
tenth in the Class of 2010 which includes 504 students.
