Description at SHS
AFJROTC Program
The Air Force Junior (AFJROTC) Aerospace Education
Program consists of Aerospace Science and Leadership
Education. Each year's content of the four year program is
divided between Aerospace Science and Leadership Education.

The first year is an introduction into the Aerospace Science
program and consists of the history of aviation and the
aerospace community.
The second
year cover the principals of flight, navigation and weather.
The third year
expands on propulsion systems and covers the exploration of
space.
The fourth
year cover civil aviation and the department of defense
national defense structure.
Although drill
and ceremonies is the main single emphasis of Leadership
Education, it is rounded out with classroom activity dealing
with military customs and courtesies and leadership and
management problems. The practical activities associated
with a corps organization includes drill teams, awards,
dining-out, military balls, and field trips to local bases,
airports and aerospace associated industries. This also
includes instruction on management, creative thinking,
problem solving, communications, and organizations as it
pertains to the cadet corps.

eleventh grades respectively, three different options to
continue their AFJROTC experience. The options are 1.
Management of the Cadet Corps through active incorporation
of previously learned theories and leadership techniques as
a key staff member 2. Competing a Ground school course
which, when complete, should enable the students to pass the
Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) written private pilot
examination, 3. Completing a civil course, which would
include such topics as civil aviation and civil and military
aerospace careers.
PREREQUISITES: Successful completion of ASIII course and
approval of the aerospace science instructors and guidance
counselor.
BENEFITS: If
you successfully complete three years of Air Force Junior
ROTC and then enroll in Air Force ROTC in college, you may
receive credit for the first year of the 4-year program as a
candidate who is qualified for pilot or navigator training.
Each air Force Junior ROTC unit can also nominate qualified
candidates for Air Force Academy consideration. If you
enter the military service, you may be able to enter two pay
grades higher then your fellow enlistees if you have
successfully completed three years of the program. All Air
Force Junior ROTC cadets can compete for the 4-year Air
Force ROTC college scholarships.
