The Schenectady High School Robotics Club is off to a busy start this year.  On Saturday, December 12, the club traveled to RPI in Troy to participate in the annual high school and collegiate robotics contest.

The challenge this year was to design and build robots that were capable of collecting crushed stone and/or shelled corn and then deliver it into a scoring basin.  The challenge was even more complicated as teams had to overcome a series of obstacles in order to move along the course.

Schenectady High School entered two teams in the contest, the Patriot Red and the Patriot Blue.  The Red team, which tied for second place, was one of only two high school levels teams whose robot was able to collect corn.

The Blue Team was awarded the Judges Award for the best overall design and conceptualization of a solution.  The team's robot was built based on the concept of a conveyor belt that moved in one direction to collect stone and corn and in the reverse direction to unload.
