Last
month, students from the Steinmetz Career and
Leadership Academy took a trip to Bowman's Orchard
to tour the facility, learn about the ever-changing
produce industry and speak with owner about what it
takes to run a small business and farm.
Culinary arts students learned about the path a food product takes from the farm to the restaurant as well as gained and understanding about agribusiness and purchasing Pride of New York produce.
Students
enrolled in media arts used the time on the farm to
complete sketches and capture pictures that will be
used in upcoming projects including the creation of
new flyers for the business.
Those in the office management program had an opportunity to learn about the new digital inventory system that tracks purchases at the orchard and country store.
Students even spent some time picking apples and evaluating the produce. They brought the apples back for snacks at the school's Back to School Night.
