Tobacco-Free School District
Policy
Adopted by the Board of Education
of the
City School District of Schenectady 12/05/07
The Schenectady City School
District will promote the knowledge and skills necessary to
avoid tobacco use. The District will equip school leaders with
the tools necessary to reinforce healthy behaviors and actively
discourage all use of tobacco products by students, staff,
faculty, and school visitors.
As required by New
York law, tobacco use is strictly prohibited at all schools, on
all school grounds and in any vehicle used to transport children
or school personnel.
Prevention-Education
Age-appropriate instruction in
the effects of tobacco smoke, to discourage the use of tobacco
and to promote healthy decision-making will be included in the
curriculum for all students.
