Code of Discipline
Procedures, Consequences and
Disciplinary Codes
....
Discipline is most effective
when it deals directly with the
problem at the time and place it
occurs and in a fair and impartial
manner.
Disciplinary action, when necessary,
will be firm, fair and consistent in
an effective manner to positively
modify student behavior. In
determining the appropriate
disciplinary action, school
personnel authorized to impose
disciplinary penalties will consider
the following:
-
The student's age.
-
The nature of the offense and the
circumstances that led to the
offense.
-
The student's prior disciplinary
record.
-
The appropriateness of other forms
of discipline.
-
Information from parents,
teachers, staff and/or others, as
appropriate.
-
Intent, mitigating factors or
other extenuating circumstances.
Discipline will be progressive,
meaning that a student's first
violation will usually merit a
lighter penalty than subsequent
violations. School personnel may
impose a more severe penalty for a
first violation depending on the
specific facts and circumstances of
the incident.
