Schenectady High School Closed Campus Policy

Definition:  Students must remain in the building at all times with the exception of their lunch period.

Lunch:  All students will have the opportunity to earn the privilege of leaving the campus for lunch. 

All students will have the opportunity to earn the privilege After returning the parental permission slips, eligible students will be identified by colored stickers on the back of their identification cards.  The students must leave through the FA wing doors, the main ramp doors, or through the flagpole entrance.  Students must re-enter through the same doors that they exited.  Each student must show an ID card with the appropriate sticker in order to leave.

Violations:   Any students can lose the privilege of leaving campus during a ten-week marking period for any of the following reasons:

1.  Accruing two or more referrals for truancy during a ten-week marking period.

2.  Accruing three or more referrals in a ten-week marking period for anything other than truancies.

3.  Any serious infraction of the school discipline policy that results in Out of School Suspension (ie. Level III and/or IV infractions - see school discipline code)

4.  Administrative discretion (can also be used to restore privileges).

With the exception of #3 above, any students who did not qualify for a sticking in a previous marking period can qualify during the following marking period providing they meet the criteria set above.

Anyone who is ineligible due to a Level III or IV infraction must have administrative approval to be issued  a sticker.  Any student(s) leaving campus without this privilege will fall under the discipline policy standard of insubordination and will be assigned Out of School Suspension.
