Paige
kindergarteners collect food for animal foundation
Collection becomes math lesson
 The
kindergarten students at Paige Elementary School demonstrated
that they are generous and care about animals when they
collected 127 cans of pet food for the Animal Protective
Foundation recently. Before handing the food over however,
teachers Diane Beninati and Susan Butler turned the exercise in
math lessons. The children used their skills to count,
graph and pattern the cans of food.
This is just
one of many class collection exercises which are part of the
Everyday Math Program.
