Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,

I hope this letter finds you and your family well.  I’m writing, today, to provide you with a few more updates regarding the status of school and important information regarding June Regents exams.

On Monday, April 6, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that New York State school closings will be extended two additional weeks.  Therefore, all schools will remain closed through April 29, 2020.  During this time, online instruction will continue.   We will continue to update you as we receive new information.

The New York State Education Department also announced that the June 2020 Regents exams are cancelled.  Students will be able to earn diploma credit without taking these exams.  Students will be notified with more information and the details of these requirements. 

Meal Distribution

While we continue to provide breakfast and lunch to students, we have made a change to our bus distribution schedule.  Effective Monday, April 13, meals will be delivered to bus stops on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week to all stops on routes #410 through #415.  The schedule is posted on our website.

On these days, students will receive two days’ worth of meals instead of one.  

The Pleasant Valley stop for meal distribution at 11 a.m. has been moved to Mont Pleasant Middle School.

If your child is in need of an electronic device, please provide contact us immediately through Let’s Talk.  This link is on our district website under the COVID-19 information.

Budget Thought Exchange

Due to the COVID-19 impact on the New York State Budget, schools will not receive any increase in Foundation Aid (state school aid).  This is a dramatic change and significant reduction to the governor’s original proposal in January.  As such, the district is facing a $4.6 million budget deficit. 

We need your help and are asking you to share your thoughts and ideas on how you think we can be more efficient and/or what you think we can eliminate from the budget to reduce spending.   We have launched an online thought exchange available from our district website or by going here: https://my.thoughtexchange.com/795134327.  The exchange is open until April 21.   Your participation is important.  Results of the ThoughtExchange will be shared.
