Two Middle Schools Receive Picturing America Grants

Congratulations to Central Park and Oneida middle schools both of which have applied for and received the “Picturing America Grant” from the National Endowment for the Humanities.    Both middle schools will receive a collection of 40 high quality reproductions of American art and a teacher resource book.

Picturing American is a far-reaching, exciting new initiative that brings masterpieces of American art into classrooms and libraries nationwide.  Through this program, students will gain a deeper appreciation of our country's history and character by studying and understanding its art.  The program is designed to use art as a catalyst to study culture, politics and history.

The masterpieces used in conjunction with the resource book and web site, help students experience the humanity of history and enhance the teaching and understanding of America's past.
