Administrative Changes for 2011-2012

Valarie Scott, principal of Yates Magnet School has been named Principal of Howe Early Childhood Education Center.

Scott is excited to take over the leadership post at Howe.  "When I saw the announcement that the position was being created, I saw it as a perfect opportunity for me," said Scott.  In addition to being and experienced principal, Scott has a background in early childhood education.  She is a former kindergarten teacher in the district, served as an early childhood coordinator and has a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education.  "It's bittersweet because I do enjoy working at Yates, but the timing is good and I am excited to make the change," she said.

 

Robert Flanders, principal of Hamilton Elementary School has been named Principal of Yates Arts in Education Magnet School.

"I'm excited for a new challenge," said Flanders who studied music as a minor in college and said he is drawn to the arts theme of the school.  "It's a good fit for me," said Flanders.

 

Michelle Vanderlinden, principal of Van Corlaer Elementary School has been named Principal of Hamilton Elementary School.

 

 

Patty Paser, principal of Paige Elementary School has been named Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent.  Paser will take the new post effective July 1, 2011.

 

With the moves, there are principal vacancies at Van Corlaer Elementary School and Paige Elementary School.   There will also be a principal vacancy in the School of Business and International Studies at Schenectady High School as current principal Paul Scampini is set to retire June 30.  All three of these posts will be filled immediately.
