Christopher
Chank
Christopher Chank
was recently named Principal of Sayles School of Fine Arts at
Schenectady High School. Chank has been serving as dean of
students for the smaller learning community since 2007 and prior
to that completed an administrative internship in the GE
Scholars School of Humanities and Culture at Schenectady High
School from August 2006-May 2007.
As dean of
students, Chank was responsible for an number of administrative
duties including enforcement of the district code of conduct.
He also scheduled and facilitated parent conferences,
arranged home visit and developed mentor relationships with
at-risk youth. He worked closely with the probation
department, school resource officers and peer mediation.
Chank was also responsible for data analysis of the
Comprehensive School Education Plan (CDEP), discipline reports
anddaily reports regarding truancy and absenteeism. He
also supervised many extra-curricular events.
Chank taught
social studies at Schenectady High School from 2000-2007.
Prior to that, he taught in the Stillwater Central School
District and at Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons School.
Chank has served
on more than 15 committees. He most recently served as
co-facilitator of the Schenectady High School Restructuring
Committee attendance initiative. He continues to served on
the high school safety committee and high school crisis team.
He was a member of the district's 2008-2009 Strategic Planning
committee.
Chank earned
National Board Certification in November 2005.
He earned a
Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science with
concentration in Secondary Education; Master of Arts degree in
History and Political Science; and Certificate of Advanced Study
in Education Administration - all from The College of Saint
Rose.
