RPI Robotics Camp

The first week of the RPI Robotics Camp just wrapped up. According to the teachers and parents who wrote emails, the students had a great time.  Students were already asking if they could attend the camp again.

Each middle school will get a classroom set of Lego robotics equipment so students can continue their work. Eight middle school math and technology teachers will also be taking a week-long online course in Lego Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University.

Middle school teachers will also receive copies of the following books:

  • Science and Math for Technology

  • STEM With Vernier and Lego Mindstorms NXT

  • DataLogging Activities for the Busy Teacher.

  • Physics With Robotics

  • Engineering With Lego Bricks and Robolab

  • Advanced NXT – DaVinci

  • NXT – The Mayan Adventure

  • NXT Idea Book

  • Unofficial NXT Inventors Guide

Students created animated games using a programming language called Scratch, developed at MIT.

Summer Professionals Development

Teachers Peter Robinson and Bill Pickett are leading interdisciplinary professional development which focuses on Earthquakes, Vernier sensors, and Web 2.0 tools.

English, science, math and social studies teachers (below) are working on their Web 2.0 skills.
