RPI Robotics
Camp
The first week of
the RPI Robotics Camp just wrapped up. According to the teachers
and parents who wrote emails, the students had a great time.
Students were already asking if they could attend the camp
again.
Each middle school will get a classroom
set of Lego robotics equipment so students can continue their
work. Eight middle school math and technology teachers will also
be taking a week-long online course in Lego Robotics from
Carnegie Mellon University.

created animated games using a programming language called
Scratch, developed at MIT.
At right, Mr. Dominguez
and students are playing each other's animated games in the
sharing session at the end of the week.
Summer
Professionals Development
Teachers Peter
Robinson and Bill Pickett are leading interdisciplinary
professional development which focuses on Earthquakes, Vernier
sensors, and Web 2.0 tools.
Robinson
(right) is demonstrating the shake table that the class
will construct. Vernier accelerometers are part of the design to
quantify the size of the "earthquake."
English, science,
math and social studies
teachers (below) are working on their Web 2.0 skills.
