JOINT STATEMENT
of the
SCHENECTADY CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT and ERIC ELY

The Schenectady City School District Board of Education announced that it has accepted the resignation of Eric Ely effective June 30, 2010.  The District thanked Mr. Ely for his service to the District in a tumultuous period.

District Board President Maxine Brisport said, “This has been a difficult time for the entire school community.  We are pleased to be able to wish Eric Ely well and to start a search for a new Superintendent for the 2010-2011 school year.”

Superintendent Ely said, “My family’s personal needs must take precedence.  I seek to use the skills of working in an urban environment in another setting.”

Mr. Ely has been actively seeking a new superintendent’s position.  Mr. Ely is a finalist for a superintendent’s position in several other districts.
