The APF commemorated national Be Kind to Animals Week (May 2-8) with a reception to honor the winners of their 8th Annual Poster and Essay Contest.  More then 200 parents, family members and teachers gathered in the Hearst Education Center in Proctors Theatre to celebrate the works of the 39 contest winners.  Gift bags and ribbons were presented to each of the winners.

This year's theme "Adopt Me!" drew entries that encouraged adoption of pets available at the APR's shelter.  The APF announced in a press released that at least two adoptions have resulted from the children's involvement in the contest.
