SHS student is  New York State FCCLA Officer Elect

Schenectady High School sophomore Johanna Stone was recently selected as one of just ten students across New York State who will train to serve as a New York State officer of the nonprofit national career and technical student organization Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).  Stone will participate in a year long FCCLA officer training program that will prepare her to serve as state officer in the 2010-2011 school year.

Stone began a series of training days by attending the Summer Leadership Conference at SUNY Oneonta where she participated in activities to develop leadership skills as well as other interpersonal skills.  She also had an opportunity to interact with other officers in training.

Stone is a member of the GE School of Humanities and Culture at Schenectady High School.  She and classmate Meranda Bell won two awards this summer in FCCLA STAR competitions.  The two brought home a gold medal from the New York State conference and a gold from the national conference.
