Hearts
For Haiti
Van Corlaer 4th Graders
Get Creative
When Time
for Kids magazine recently raised the question,
"What can
you do to help Haiti," Jennifer Riley's fourth graders
at Van Corlaer Elementary School had some ideas.
After
discussing their many ideas, the group decided to make and
sell paper hearts.
The
students worked together on the project by cutting and
sorting the hearts. Then from February 1 - 12, they
sold them to the students, staff and families of Van
Corlaer.
As a result of
the kindness and generosity of the Van Corlaer community,
the class sold more then 400 hearts and raised $312 which
they donated to the Red Cross.
