Board Decides to Leave Seat Vacant Until Election

The Schenectady City School District Board of Education decided at Wednesday night's meeting to leave the seat recently vacated by Jim Casino open until the May 18 election.

Four board seats will be up for election.

Maxine Brisport and Jeff Janiszewski's terms are both up June 30.  Linda Bellick was appointed to Joyce Wachala's seat.  Wachala was elected this past year but resigned shortly thereafter.

The top two vote-getters will enter in to three year terms (2010-2013) and will be sworn in on July 1, 2010.

The candidate with the third highest number of votes will fill Joyce Wachala's term which runs through 2012.  The fourth highest vote-getter will fill Jim Casino's term which ends 2011.  Both the third and fourth place vote getters will take office on May 19, 2010.
