“Let it snow!  Let it snow!  Let it snow!” could have been the motto for Explorer School teachers from across the country at the recent History of Winter (HOW) program at Lake Placid.   That’s right. NASA scientists are interested in snow, how much falls, kinds of snow, warmth of the snow at different levels in a snow pit, and differences between ice and snow.  Properties of snow have serious implications for NASA satellites. Snow reflects light that can interfere with remote sensing, data collection and weather observations from the satellites   Scientists can predict avalanches by identifying a certain kind of snow in the snow pack – called snow sugar.                    Visit http://howexcite.gsfc.nasa.gov
