. . . . Harvesting seeds from the New England tea
plant requires patience
Students from the Fretto/Moehle sixth grade team visited with
Dr. Alan Fiero's science class at Farnsworth Middle School to
"harvest" seeds from six varieties of plants grown in the Albany
Pine Bush Preserve. After the seeds were packed in vials
provided by NASA, they were mailed to Wallops Flight Facility.
The seeds were then prepared for flight. Students involved
in the SEM project were able to talk to the Wallops engineers
through a teleconference, arranged with the technical assistance
of Sal DeAngelo from
Project VIEW.

. . . . Dr. Fiero
gets down to the finer points of getting-the-job done with the
New Jersey tea seeds.

Seeds from the
Dogbane plant resemble milkweed seeds and float through the air
. . . in spite of students' efforts to catch them. |
