Lincoln students honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., at Siena College's Art & Essay Celebration

Sixteen Lincoln Elementary School students participated in the art and essay celebration in honor of Martin Luther King Jr., at Siena College on January 13.

Nasir Bradley, Trinity Cooper, Allen Cruceta, Anthony Deonarine, Kameron Hinds, Devi Jainarain, Mohammad Jibreel, Max Kanciruk, Christian Manchester, Justin Mohan, Shavaun Olds, Leena Ramkumar, Farana Saffie, Elana Sanchez, Itzell Rodriguez and Claire Williams are students at Lincoln Elementary School who submitted poster and writing entries.  Heather Rush, art teacher at Lincoln, guided the students.

Each year over 500 students from schools all over the area, under the guidance of their teachers, create an array of art work, essays and in poetry in honor of Dr. King.

The theme this year was "Celebrating Local Leader:  Courage and Commitment in the Spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr."

The works were displayed on the Siena Campus during the special event where children, parent and teachers came to hear music and stories while they view the works and enjoy healthy snacks.
