King Magnet
Students Thank Board of Education & Superintendent for their
"New" School
When
the students walked through the front doors of Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr. Math, Science,
Technology and Invention Magnet School this September, they
immediately saw that their school received a complete summer
makeover.
The front
entranceway was completely redone and the offices moved.
The hallways were different in shape and color. The
students soon learned they no longer had to eat lunch in half of
the gymnasium because a bright, new cafetorium had been built.
There were more classrooms, a new science lab, music room,
locker rooms, a bigger playground, new basketball court,
enhanced outdoor lighting, and more. Why all the changes?
While the school was due for some of these changes, others were
to accommodate the needs of the incoming and newest members of
King, the seventh and eighth graders.
The students of
King School shared their thoughts about the recent changes.
They presented two large hand-made envelopes full of "thank you"
cards to the Board of Education and Superintendent Ely at the
November meeting.
Some students
wrote their thoughts about the changes at the
school and the youngest students expressed themselves through
their art work.
Read and see for yourself.
