reading teacher receives scholarship
Congratulations
to Thea Yurkewecz, a reading teacher at Katharine Burr Blodgett
Elementary School, who was recently selected to receive the
Michael C. Hoffman Endowed Scholarship from the University of
Albany. The scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing a
graduate degree in the School of Education while currently
employed as an education professional providing direct services
in Albany, Schenectady, Troy or Cohoes.
Yurkewecz was
nominated for the award by one of her professors at the college.
"I am thrilled to have been not only nominated but to have been
awarded the scholarship and represent it as a reading teacher in
the Schenectady School District," said Yurkewecz.
She said the
award will help fund a doctorate program for reading.
