The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program is an internationally recognized,  rigorous pre-university course of studies that exceeds New York State's standards.  The program is designed for highly motivated students between the ages of 16 and 19 years old.

In order to prepare students for the challenge of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program in 11th grade, Schenectady High School has established a two-year pre-IB course of study for students in grades nine and ten.  Students who successfully complete the pre-IB coursework gain acceptance to the IB diploma program.

To earn an IB diploma, students must pass examinations as well as  fulfill other rigorous requirements.

Students who are awarded IB diplomas gain admission to the most selective colleges and universities throughout the world.
