What is the web address for Home Access Center?
Please visit our school website at
www.schenectady.k12.ny.us and in
the upper right hand corner there is a yellow link to
Home Access Center.
What should
I do if I forgot my username or password?
Please call or e-mail Cathy O'Brien at
370-8100 X-126 or
obrienc@schenectady.k12.ny.us if you
cannot remember your username or password. Ms. O'Brien
will reset both for you.
Can I
change my password?
You may change your password at any time. Click
the Profile button in the top right hand corner.
A small window will open instructing you to enter your old
password and to select and confirm your new password.
Is my
child's information safe? Who has access to it?
Your child's information is safe. All users must
have a username and password. Only those individuals
who are entitled to your child's information will be granted
a username and password to access the Home Access Center
and your child's information.
How do I
contact a teacher if I have questions regarding grades,
assignments or comments?
It's easy. Simply click on the teacher's name.
The e-mail program installed on your computer (for example
Outlook, Outlook Express) may launch and you can easily
compose an e-mail message to the teacher.
If you access
your email through AOL web access or your Yahoo! Mail
account online, your mailbox will not automatically open.
In this case, you will not be able to automatically send an
email by clicking on the name.
Here's how you will send an email to the teacher:
First, open your e-mail account. Compose an email as
you normally would (Compose e-mail, New Mail etc.)
Copy and paste the teacher's email address on the To
line. You may want to add the email address to
your address book at this time. It will be easy to
find in the event you want to email the teacher again.
What if I
have questions regarding the accuracy of my child's
attendance record?
Please contact the attendance person in your child's
school. The attendance officer will assist or direct
you to get answers to your questions.
What if the
registration information is incorrect or not available?
If you believe your child's information is not correct
or if it is not entered into the system, please call the
registrar's office at 370-8101 X-116. After the
correct information is verified and confirmed, it will be
updated in the Home Access Center.
Why can't I
see the additional information when I click on the links?
For example, when I click on the notes bubble,
nothing happens?
Some of the pages open up in new windows or as pop-ups.
Please make sure if you are using pop-up blocking software
or utilities such as Google or Yahoo!, that they allow
pop-ups within the Home Access Center.
What are
the browser requirements for using Home Access Center?
Home Access Center can be viewed by the following
browsers:
- Internet
Explorer 5.5 or higher for Windows - 5.0 or higher for
Macintosh
- Netscape
Navigator 6.0 or higher
- Safari
1.0 or higher for Windows
- Firefox
2.0 or higher for Windows
